Independent Contractor Agreements: Guided State Coverage and General Templates

Darius F. Sanders, Founder of Wi Filings Darius F. Sanders · Founder, Wi Filings · Published 2026-11-02

Wi Filings offers three contractor-document paths: a $59 guided agreement for 11 states, a separate $49 Wisconsin guided agreement, and a $59 general fill-in template. These are product options, not a promise that one contract satisfies every jurisdiction or every type of work.

Guided agreement: 11 states at $59

The national guided builder currently supports Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Utah. The client, contractor and primary work must all share the selected state. This describes the builder’s current scope; it is not a ranking of states or a statement that other states prohibit contractor agreements.

Choose a state and build your contractor agreement — $59. Review the selected answers, key terms and partial sample before payment. The full PDF is delivered after verified payment.

Wisconsin: a separate guided product at $49

For a Wisconsin engagement within the product’s scope, use the Wisconsin independent contractor agreement. Choosing the Wisconsin product is separate from buying LLC formation, registered agent service or an annual report. You do not need to purchase those services to buy the agreement.

Other states and multistate work: a general fill-in template at $59

The general contractor template is available to buyers whose state is not listed or whose engagement crosses state lines. It is a blank form, not a state-specific agreement. Governing law, venue and other fields must be completed and the document reviewed for the actual arrangement before signing. The purchase includes no attorney review or legal advice.

For example, a client in Texas engaging someone whose primary work is in Florida falls outside the guided same-state path, even though both states appear in the list. Selecting Texas does not make the second location disappear. The general template remains a purchase option, with its limitations disclosed before checkout.

Decide the product before entering the project

  1. Identify the parties and where the primary work happens.
  2. Use the guided route only when all three locations meet its same-state scope.
  3. If using the general template, plan to complete its blank fields yourself and review the finished agreement before signatures.
  4. Keep tax forms, licenses, insurance and worker classification separate from the document purchase.

A governing-law selection is not a certification that no other law applies. For regulated services, a dispute or facts you do not understand, professional advice can help assess the arrangement. The product scope and price remain visible so you can choose and purchase without requesting a quote.

For the federal tax distinction between employees and contractors, see IRS worker-classification guidance. This guide describes our product coverage as checked November 2, 2026; it does not claim that the IRS approves these templates.

Common questions

Does national availability mean the guided builder covers all 50 states?

No. The national guided builder currently covers 11 listed states. Wisconsin has a separate guided product. Other-state and multistate buyers can purchase a general fill-in template, which is not state-specific.

What if the client is in Texas and the contractor works in Florida?

That falls outside the same-state guided product. The general fill-in template is a purchase option, but it is not automatically adapted to the laws of both states. Review and complete it for the actual engagement before signing.

Do I have to request a quote to buy the general template?

No. Review its sample and key terms and proceed to the $59 checkout. Full document access follows verified payment; there is no paid-review queue included in this product.
